ABMNM Faculty

Joanna Cutler

Assistant of ABM®NeuroMovement®

I discovered the Feldenkrais Method in 1994 as a teenager seeking relief from chronic back pain. While it was the only approach that provided help, my journey eventually led to spinal fusion surgery in 2003. Though the surgery relieved my constant pain, it was the Feldenkrais Method and Anat Baniel Method NeuroMovement that truly transformed how I organized myself after a decade of living with back pain.

Inspired by this transformation, I became a Feldenkrais practitioner in 2008 and launched my private practice in 2009. In 2011, I attended a one-day workshop with Anat and was captivated by how clearly and accessibly she presented the work. I immediately enrolled in her training program, completing the Basic through Mastery levels in 2013. I continued as support staff in 2014 and joined the teaching staff as an assistant in 2017. I am passionate about exploring the depths of Anat’s evolution of Dr. Feldenkrais’ work. My favorite teaching moments come when I find just the right way to help students discover answers to their own questions.

I maintain my private practice in Portland, Oregon. When I’m not working or studying, you’ll find me on the tennis court or playing coffee shop with my toddler son.
